UCyTOF at UMC Utrecht

Discover and visualize complex tissue and cellular landscapes.

Mass cytometry

Mass cytometry is a multiplex proteomics detection method, that makes use of Time-of-Flight mass spectrometry. We offer both imaging (IMC), and analysis of cell suspensions (CyTOF).

IMC

Detailed visualization of complex tissue, such as inflamed or cancer tissue, has the potential to reveal pathological processes that contribute to disease. Common imaging techniques are limited by autofluorescence, and to a few markers. To overcome this problem, we have implemented Imaging Mass Cytometry (IMC). IMC is based on antibody labeling of tissue sections, cell pellets and organoids and can detect up to 35 markers simultaneously. IMC is ideal to analyze individual cells in a tissue at subcellular resolution, while containing spatial information.

CyTOF

CyTOF is a well-established method used to analyze cells in suspension: blood, leukemia, or tissue suspension. CyTOF allows multiplex protein analysis, making use of heavy-metal labeled antibody panels. CyTOF is ideal to perform in-depth phenotyping of your samples, allowing clustering analysis to identify differences between study conditions and patient groups.

About UCyTOF

UCyTOF is based in the Center for Molecular Medicine, UMC Utrecht. UCyTOF makes use of the latest developments in IMC and CyTOF, and works in close collaboration with VercoulenLab.org.

UCyTOF offers both experimental and analytical support for a variety of projects.
